Aquila partnered with a prominent Mining Company in Nevada to assess the local impacts of their mining area expansion. This collaborative effort aimed to gain critical insights into community interactions and strengthen community engagement while ensuring that the expansion would be carried out with utmost care for the local environment and economy.


Challenges:

The mining company's expansion plans necessitated a thorough understanding of the geographic impacts on the surrounding areas, including land usage transformation, environmental changes, and social and economic implications. It was crucial to assess and predict the effects of the expansion on the local community, fauna, flora, and overall economic landscape.


Solution:

Aquila's comprehensive solution encompassed various aspects of the expansion, providing a detailed understanding of the geographic and socio-economic factors.  The solution involved:


1. Land Usage Transformation: Accurate forecasting of land usage transformation within the mining area, including green spaces, water bodies, roads, agricultural areas, cut and fill areas, and their proximity to housing, water bodies, state parks, and protected areas.


2. Vegetation and Wildlife Analysis: Classification and mapping of the main vegetation and wildlife species within a 20-mile radius, facilitating conservation efforts and impact assessment.


3. Water Quality Analysis: Classification and mapping of water bodies' conditions and quality within a 20-mile radius, ensuring the preservation of water resources.


4. Population and Zoning Analysis: Modeling of social and economic population within a 50-mile radius, and assessment of industry and commercial zoning within the same range, aiding in community planning and resource allocation.


5. Job Creation and Economic Benefits: Detailed modeling of the quantity and categories of jobs created by the expansion, along with the overall benefits to the local economy.
